Floods in Germany also impacting Outokumpu

The recent heavy thunderstorms and record rainfall have caused severe flooding and catastrophic damage in several parts of Germany and Western Europe.

The impact in Outokumpu is limited to our cold rolling mill in Dahlerbrück* which saw water ingress into the operating lines, and the operations remain down temporarily. The operations in our Service Centers and other German sites in Krefeld and Dillenburg are uninterrupted.

While our damage assessment remains ongoing, the recovery of the plant is already well underway. We are transferring quotas to other mills and doing our best to mitigate the impact on customer deliveries.

People working for Outokumpu are widely spread throughout Europe and many families are impacted by this catastrophe in one way or another. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims and with the relatives of those who lost their lives or homes.

*Dahlerbrück cold rolling mill produces precision strip, employs some 160 people, and represents less than 1% of Outokumpu Group’s total production.
